Social Responsibility

We are committed to improve lives through P&G's social responsibility programs.
Our goal is to enable 300 million children to Live, Learn and Thrive and to prevent 80 million days of disease and save 10,000 lives by delivering 3 billion litres of clean water in our Children's Safe Drinking Water program.

In a special campaign, the Pampers UNICEF 1 Pack = 1 Vaccine campaign, P&G is supporting UNICEF's efforts to eliminate neonatal tetanus and save millions of babies. To date, we have been able to donate 50 million vaccinations which will benefit millions of babies and their pregnant mothers. This is the largest charitable campaign in P&G's history in Western Europe.

Employees
We engage and equip all P&Gers to build sustainability thinking and practices into their everyday work.
This year, P&G employees around the world celebrated Earth Day. Activities included tree-planting and clean-up activities in the homes and schools of children, training sessions on sustainability, eco-driving workshops, and booths to advance awareness and engagement among employees around the globe. Some sites used the occasion to organize fundraising efforts, while others asked employees to leave their care at home in favour of alternative transportation.

Stakeholders
We shape the future by working transparently with our stakeholders to enable continued freedom to innovate in a responsible way.
P&G is recognized as a leading global company. In 2008, we were recipients of the European Business Award for Corporate Sustainability, which honours organizations that demonstrate a company-wide commitment to corporate sustainability.

For our efforts in Children's Safe Drinking Water, we received the Ron Brown Award for Corporate Leadership, the only US presidential award to recognise companies for their exemplary quality of their relationships with employees and communities. We also received the "Advertiser of the Year" award at the 2008 Cannes International Advertising Festival. In 2009, we have been named as one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" by Corporate Knights Inc. and Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc.

Live, Learn and Thrive explanation

By strengthening current programs, introducing new ones and focusing our expertise and technologies on this critical need, we can improve the future for these children throughout the world.

P&G Live, Learn and Thrive comes to life through dozens of programs in our communities around the world. One of them is the Children's Safe Drinking Water program.

P&G has developed a low-cost technology to purify contaminated drinking water to make it safer for children. We provide this technology to global relief groups to yield millions of liters of safe drinking water in developing countries. This has been critical in helping children in need get off to a healthy start.

In Western Europe, we bring this cause to life in all countries where we operate. Here are few examples of local programmes:

In the UK, P&G are partnering with Teach First behind a joint mission of improving the life chances of children from disadvantaged backgrounds through improved educational opportunities.

In France, we are supporting Restos-Bébé du Coeur through our Pampers brand. We are helping to provide a healthy start to babies under 18 months old by opening parenting centres which provide food, products and advice about hygiene and nutrition, as well as social services to parents.

In Portugal & Greece, we are partnering with SOS Children's Villages. This partnership provides homes and development programs for orphaned and abandoned children

In Switzerland, we have established a Better Life for Children in Need program. This program is helping to assist impoverished migrant children (asylum-seekers with language and cultural barriers) with integration tools.

Along with external partners, we are establishing innovative solutions to help improve the lives of millions of children in need. Through our Pampers brand, we are partnering with UNICEF and its worldwide initiative to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus in developing nations.

P&G Beauty launched The Aqua Collection to provide pure and safe drinking water for children in need. P&G's leading hair and beauty brands have joined forces to back the company's Children's Safe Drinking Water program to provide pure and safe drinking water in the developing world.
