Research and Development Oral Health Statistician BS/MS

You will:

Join an R&D Healthcare organization with 8 statisticians and 4 data managers. Identify appropriate techniques to design and analyze data to answer research questions. Consult and collaborate closely with project teams (data manager, dentist, clinical trial manager) to understand the science in order to determine best statistical methods to help answer the research question. Discover new statistical methods in partnership with internal and external experts to tackle complex problems.

The Oral Health Statistician is responsible for the statistical integrity of Oral Health clinical trials - statistical planning, design, programming, analysis, and reporting of data (written and oral), claims/credentialing support, mining of historical clinical data - taking direction from a Senior Statistician. Also, responsibilities may include non-clinical statistical or data science related work such as applying machine learning algorithms and programming for image analysis.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Under the direction of a Senior Statistician, provide statistical expertise for study design of Oral Health clinical and non-clinical study protocols and write statistical analysis plan for the study protocol, ensuring appropriate regulatory requirements and study objectives defined in the study protocol are followed.
  • Complete detailed analysis plans, summaries of research and experimentation, and documenting work.
  • Deliver to project teams summary tables, data listings, graphical representations of clinical and non-clinical study data, interpretation of results and detailed reports.
  • Provide statistical support for product claims and credentialing.
  • Represent statistical discipline at project meetings and other multifunctional meetings, as needed.
  • Apply a range of appropriate statistical methods to analyze data from Oral Health research and development projects.
  • Identify the best statistical methods and programming practices both within and outside of the company.
  • Identify opportunity areas to automate analyses and drive simplification.
  • Deliver tools for automated data analysis and reporting.
  • Adhere to all aspects of the Procter & Gamble’s quality systems and standard operating procedures
  • Comply with Procter & Gamble's data integrity and business ethics requirements.



Have a BS or MS in Statistics or Biostatistics with computer science (programming or software development) experience.

We believe you will be an excellent fit, if you:

  • Demonstrates understanding in large number of core statistical methods (e.g. linear and logistic regression, ANOVA, nonparametric testing, binomial and multinomial, multivariate) and current software applications.
  • Proficiency in SAS, R, R Shiny or other modern languages used for statistical analysis.
  • Able to understand key design elements, identify methods, understand the associated pros and cons, and make recommendations to teams and partners.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with statisticians, scientists, researchers and project team members.

  • Experience with Regulatory filings is desired but not required.

  • Interest in data – natural curiosity, ability to understand the big picture, penetrate the data and find non-obvious connections.

  • Able to articulate the business question and translate into statistical problems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing.
