BFF Life Science Microbiologist Associate Scientist

The R&D Baby, Family Care, Feminine Care (BFF) Associate Scientist/Scientist Microbiologist works closely with Family Care business (e.g. Charmin, Bounty, Puffs brands) to deliver biosciences laboratory assays, microbiology testing and laboratory operations (e.g. safety, equipment, standards & compliance). The business unit (BU) Microbiologist works within a cross-functional global team of BFF Microbiologists, Clinical Scientists, Industrial Microbiologists, Product Supply, Product Development/Products Research, Global Material Development and Supply, Quality Assurance, and Safety/Regulatory functions working in upstream technology development and downstream go to market innovation (end-to-end innovation). The BU microbiologist guides and influences technical project direction and solves technical problems by leveraging scientific skills and strong foundational Biosciences understanding developed through hands-on experimentation and application. As an integral member of the BFF Life Sciences Team, the Microbiologist will:

  • Train on BFF microbiology and biological assays, SOPs, test methods and standards to enable early learning and developmental work to drive innovation. Examples of work across a variety of projects will be in hygiene/ cleaning consumer benefits, microbiological assay development, and laboratory information management (LIMS) computer systems.
  • Capital asset purchasing and tracking for BFF Micro Lab equipment.
  • Partner in x-BU teams for MBC (P&G Mason Business/Technical Center) shared lab operations and standards for quality and safety.
  • Interface with contractor resources within the MBC microbiology laboratories for supplemental staffing for surges in work.
  • Hands on laboratory investigation and documentation of work in electronic lab notebooks and Nexus/LIMS systems.
  • Work in a BSL1 or BSL2 laboratory facility with compliance to safety, medical and laboratory operations norms and standards.
  • Learn and grow digital innovation skills.
  • Lead digital innovation for BFF Microbiology by leading, updating, and problem solving for digital innovation tools.

  • Life Sciences / biological laboratory Bachelors or Master’s Degree. Microbiology course work and/or laboratory experience is a plus for this role (including aseptic technique and proper Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • People skills for building collaborative networks and working with different functional expert team members in a research setting.
  • Written and verbal communication skills for learning and conducting laboratory assays and communications of results.
  • Agility in problem-solving and change management skills when adjustments to the plan are needed in a fast-paced innovation environment.
  • Detail-orientated and ability to lead assay documentation and maintain critical documents for compliance QA audits.

Just So You Know:

Pay Range: $85-$115K

Compensation for roles at P&G varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At P&G compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total Rewards at P&G include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
