The Opportunity

Do you love diving into complex data sets ? Are you energized by the opportunity to translate technical insights into action that deliver measurable business results?  As a PhD on our global Hair Care formulation team, at our Mason Business Center (MBC), you will use your technical curiosity, data analyses and/or  technical method experience to mine multiple sources of data and translate complex results and/or algorithms into simple conclusions and insights. These insights will enable us to design superior formulations for the next generation of our Hair Care cleansing shampoo products, globally. Your innovations will delight our consumers through an irresistibly superior experience vs other shampoos available in the market, thereby driving incremental sales of this multi-billion dollar business.

Typical responsibilities for this product design job: Guides and influences technical project direction and solves significant technical problems by leveraging scientific skills and strong foundational Product Design/Development understanding developed through hands-on experimentation/application. Performs application work and demonstrates implementation skills leveraging knowledge that moves projects forward and also begins to gain exposure to and demonstrate initial proficiency in performing integration work.​ Develops new test methods/ equipment/ protocol. Develops complex technical solutions for meeting consumer propositions. Applies data science for technology problem solutions. Leads sub-projects in technology and formulation development. Leads multi discipline integration. Sets up learning plans, complex prototype build ups.



  • Be a strong communicator who possesses the ability to influence agreement with your recommendations

  • Have passion about discovering new things and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments and diverse business scenarios


  • Candidate must have a PhD in a chemistry field or chemical engineering

  • Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Currently reside within commuting distance to the office or have the ability to relocate to Cincinnati, Ohio – generous relocation benefit provided

  • A basic understanding of data science/statistics


  • Knowledge in advanced  statistics is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge in surfactant science, colloids and/or polymer complex systems

  • Ability to code in main languages (Python, Matlab) is a bonus

  • Knowledge of computational modeling & data analysis is a bonus.
