Skin Care Packaging - Associate Scientist

Entry level for employees to develop foundational understanding of packaging procedural work and develop expertise in execution and application work by combining hands-on experimentation with scientific principles and knowledge from their science/engineering education. Drives foundational technical understanding and solves challenging technical problems addressing critical innovation and in market challenges. Begins to develop network of colleagues within Process, Packaging, R&D, and PS Disciplines across the company and across their business unit.

This role is responsible for leading packaging on projects, identifying opportunities to deliver productivity via technical changes, quality, and productivity by leveraging robust technical principles and excellence in execution.  Daily work includes packaging design & delivery for projects, package supply chain improvements and packing line and material qualifications across a broad range of packaging technologies and forms.  The work is primarily North America focused, but does require global connections and support since Olay is a global business and supply chains are sourced from many geographies.  Success in the role requires strong partnership within packaging and with many multi-functional partners to enable best-in-class solutions that deliver value to this fast-paced and dynamic business.   


Qualifications

Important Responsibilities
Manage and deliver Skin Care Packaging work for projects, current business support, productivity and more.  Lead packaging responsibilities within the cross-functional teams. Execute package testing, experimental orders, material qualifications, technical learning plan development and execution, and package specifications/standards. Prioritize strong working relationships with manufacturing plants, technical site resources and suppliers to deliver solutions. Document and communicate technical learnings, issues, and recommendations. Leadership, technical curiosity and collaboration are critical for success in this position.

Skills needed to perform in this job:
Experience with packaging work processes (Experimental Orders, Qualifications & Validations). Design, conduct and summarize experiments either in the packaging lab, at component suppliers, or manufacturing sites. Problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze information, summarize results, and make clear recommendations. Understand technical concepts and tools such as statistical process control, Design of Experiments, sampling plans, root cause analysis, etc. Able to balance the discipline of "good science" with the urgency to manage unexpected supply chain issues.
