This specific group within our Health, Safety and Environment cohort works on a global scale to looks at existing and new machine equipment at plants to ensure they meet industry & P&G standards, as well as to enable new automation technologies to be launched quicker. We're looking for a hybrid Electrical / Controls Engineer that's focused on HS&E initiatives, rather than production or continuous improvement typical of the skillset. The role has the the following responsibilities:

  • Focused on providing technical expertise in Machine Safety for controls automation projects across the enterprise at plant and distribution centers on a global scale. The initial projects will be located in North America, but global exposure will occur down the line. This requires working with engineering groups at the corporate and organizational unit level to identify cost effective solutions that meet regulatory and P&G safety expectations. This will include material handling, process and packaging machines / automation solutions.
  • This position is for Electrical / Controls Engineers who are interested in pursuing a career in Machine Safety within the realm of HS&E. Our team will provide you the trainings / certifications to be successful in pursuit of a Safety Engineer career path. Examples of which include: Functional Safety Certification provided by SICK, Pilz, Rockwell, Omron, and / or TUV
  • Any previous experience with machine safety, machine design, and / or machine guarding is a plus for the role.
  • Qualified candidates will have the ability to understand power controls technologies and wield the motivation to apply this in an HS&E environment. The role doesn't require programming the machines themselves, but a background in electrical engineering and / or controls programming is required to be successful in the role.
  • Work with vendors for validation protocols, conduct risk assessments, and conduct learning sessions for implementing proper machine handling at the plant / site level.
  • Capable of traveling 25% for business needs and comfortable with hybrid on-site (2-3 days) at the Westchester, OH office. (paid relocation will be provided for non-local candidates)


A Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Safety Engineering or other related fields

3-5+ years of engineering experience in the following:

  • Any previous regulatory experience. These projects will consist of implementing US and EU regulatory requirements to new or modified machines in machine safety, design, and guarding.
  • Passion to pursue a path in Machine Safety if coming from a traditional Electrical Engineering or Controls Programming background.
  • Experience and / or eagerness to complete machine risk assessments, and creating solutions to minimize risks identified - including design and evaluation of all types of guarding (leg protection, hand protection, etc...)
  • Experience with with evaluating reports (safety related or otherwise) from relevant vendors
  • Certified Machine Safety or Functional Safety Experts are a plus, but not required
