P&Gs Live, Learn, and Thrive Program wins two awards

P&G's Live, Learn, and Thrive - Children's Safe Drinking Water Program has been honored recently with two awards: EPA's 2007 Children's Environmental Health Excellence Award and the 2007 Global Leadership Award from the United Nations Association USA.

We're honored by this recognition. Both are excellent opportunities to build P&G's reputation as a company committed to improving lives, now and for generations to come.

EPA 2007 Children's Environmental Health Award
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized P&G's Live, Learn, and Thrive - Children's Safe Drinking Water Program with the 2007 Children's Environmental Health Excellence Award.

P&G was the winner of the Corporate Award for outstanding leadership in protecting children from environmental health risk.

William H Sanders III, Director of the National Center for Environmental Research at EPA, presented the awards stating, "This year's winners demonstrate strong commitment to children's enviornmenal health, and EPA is proud to be recognizing them for their dedication and leadership."

P&G was recognized for providing 70 million packets of PUR Purifier of Water, enough to treat 700 million liters of safe drinking water, preventing an estimated 29 million days of diarrhea and saving more than 3,800 lives.

UN Association 2007 Global Leadership Award
The United Nations Association of the USA's 2007 Global Leadership Award is being presented to P&G for its global philanthropic initiatives including providing clean drinking water through the Children's Safe Drinking Water Program and Protecting Futures, a program dedicated to helping young girls in southern Africa stay in school by providing education and sanitary protection through our Always and Tampax brands, in partnership with UNA-USA's HERO campaign.

Susan Arnold received the award on behalf of P&G from Ambassador William H Luers, president of UNA USA. In accepting the award, Ms. Arnold reiterated P&G's commitment to the Children's Safe Drinking Water Program including our new commitment to provide an additional 2 billion liters of safe drinking water by 2012.
