Are you passionate about solving tough challenges? Are you passionate about developing and using models to make important technical and business decisions that lead to bigger, better and faster innovations? If this sounds like fun, we would love to hire someone with your skills and abilities to join our Corporate Data & Modeling Sciences organization.

Our organization is responsible for leading transformation in R&D using advanced Statistics, Data Science, and First Principles Models. In this role, you will be developing and applying constitutive modeling of polymer systems with an emphasis on multi-scale understanding of how key material characteristics influence process and/or product performance across a variety of businesses and product forms at P&G. We are looking for someone with a strong background in numerical methods and solid mechanics as well as a deep understanding of constitutive material models.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Developing methods required to identify the pertinent physics of a particular process in collaboration with testing specialists
  • Identifying, developing and implementing constitutive material models into ABAQUS and/or LS-Dyna or related package to solve highly nonlinear finite deformation problems.
  • Collaborating with modeling partners in multiple businesses to deliver mathematical models, linking material structure and behavior to process/product performance.


We believe you're an excellent fit if, you have:

  • A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics (most preferred), however we will also consider other majors suchas Material Science Engineering or Other related Engineering degrees with an emphasis on Solid Mechanics, Numerical Methods & Simulation

  • Some experience with FORTRAN, C++, Python and Visual Basic

  • Experience designing and/or conducting mechanical testing required to formulate and/or calibrate material models.

  • Working knowledge of plastic potential theory for standard and nonstandard materials with experience in building user-defined constitutive material models into FEA codes including finite deformation viscoelasticity and viscoplasticity with an emphasis on polymeric materials, as well as experience with damage, aging, fracture and failure of polymer systems
