12-month Postdoc Placement for Molecular Simulations
Newcastle Innovation Centre is working on developing Molecular Dynamics models of the interaction of detergent actives such as surfactants and polymers and soil ingredients such as lipids and biological ingredients such as proteins. The Modelling & Simulation group at Newcastle Technical Centre is offering a 12-month Postdoctoral placement, where the ideal candidate will:
Experience molecular simulation using molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo or dissipative particle dynamics techniques, and the analysis of complex simulation data.
Develop molecular simulation models, such as fine tuning of different force field models.
Employ scripting to control workflows (such as Python, bash, Perl) and automate simulation work processes (inputs -> simulations -> analysis of results), as well as fluent in Linux language.
Combine the simulation work with available experimental data to explain different phenomena observed at the macro-scale.
Utilize colloidal systems concepts such as interfacial tension, surface tension, critical micelle concentration, sorption isotherms, etc.
As a full member of the team, you will have ownership for your projects, leading the development of the models and the design of experiments that may be required to provide data into the models. You will have the opportunity to present your work to Senior Management and work within professional and entrepreneurial cross-functional teams in one of the company's major business categories. Corporate and specific job trainings will be provided to accelerate your development. You will be given increased levels of responsibility based on your proven capability to produce outstanding results.

What we are looking for:
A PhD in computational Biochemistry/chemistry or related subject with a strong background in Molecular Dynamics techniques as well as mesoscale methods, especially applied to colloidal systems such as surfactant/polymers solutions in contact with soils.
Knowledge of software such as GROMACS (preferred), LAMMPS or other similar simulation packages such as AMBER, NAMD or CHARMM.
A strong technical background and a passion for applying science to real-world cases to prove his/ her capabilities.
