PhD Intern for Gas Nucleation in Liquid Studies

Gas-liquid interactions and gas nucleation kinetics are fundamental to several complex fluid transformations critical to many formulated products and processes (FPP). An outstanding example is the process where a gas or a mixture of gases is purposely added into a liquid to be a propellant, and/or changing the fluid density as a result. Mastering and transforming this area will provide a clear competitive advantage to the Company for years to come. Critical opportunity areas that the role will play are:

  • Owning and establishing benchscale experimental methods for measuring gas solubility, nucleation kinetics and bubble growth to validate modeling efforts.
  • Developing strategies to corelate the efficiency of gas entrapment (or gas mixture) and stability in liquid through fundamental understanding of gas-liquid interactions.

The important responsibilities for this role include:

  • Ownership of benchscale gas solubility and nucleation kinetics measurements
  • Identification, development and adoption of improvements to gas nucleation setup.
  • Own directly or collaborate through teams to support business projects
  • Connect internally and externally to be in touch with the latest development in the discipline

  • Strong lab experimental skills and experience of operating analytical instruments
  • Ph.D. degree in one of the following disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Bio-Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering. It is highly desired for the candidate to have technical background in any of the following: statistical mechanics, multiphase physics, complex fluids, rheology.
  • An ability to develop and utilize appropriate models in a synergistic fashion with experiments to add value
  • Candidate is desired to have experience leading a project from idea to execution
  • Passion for product and process innovations in a consumer industry, strong curiosity at linking what is needed to what is possible, leveraging deep transformation mastery
  • Team player and ability to influence broadly; believe in strength from connecting both internally and externally & continuing learning
